The CN Lines SIG membership is widely dispersed and holds few conferences on its own. Instead, we participate in other conventions to facilitate regional get-togethers of members.

EXTRA 2010 Mid-Canada Meet, Winnipeg, MB: CN Lines members meet on the Thursday preceding the TLR convention (28th) to observe trains where they can be seen without mountains to block the view.
Number 1 Northern Division, TLR. Date and location were approved by the board of the Thousand Lakes Region, NMRA at their meeting in early June 2009. Activities will centre around the Canadian Mennonite University campus where the successful 2005 convention was held except this event will take place in the south campus across the road from the old building. Dorm rooms will be available at a very low rate.
CN Lines SIG will be a co-participant at the 2010 convention with a special get-together at a local restaurant specializing in an extra-fare no-host buffet on the Sunday evening. Friday will offer a daytime bus tour to Portage la Prairie and a barbeque in Winnipeg on Friday evening.
Portage la Prairie, 50 miles west of Winnipeg, is a prime observation point where the CN and CP main lines are parallel for more than a mile and both stations are still standing! Another interesting location is the new intermodal facility in Symington Yard visible from Plessis Road. A short distance away is the remnants of the Transcona Yard.
